ANSC CHALLENGE CUP 2021

The Australian National Sports Club Challenge Cup was an exciting tournament played in the Summer of 2021. It was Brighton Heat second trophy in the second year of existence.

This competition is shaped like a World Cup, we played 6 matches winning the trophy undefeated and conceding only one goal.

In the group stage we faced Sierra Leone drawing by 1 x 1 with a goal scored by Maicon Santos, won Indonesia by 1 x 0 with a goal scored by Sergio Rojas, won Lebanon with goals of Kecy Diones, Renan Candura, Maicon Santos and Rafael Hess.

The knock-out stage was a bit more challenging as the best teams were playing each other match after match. We faced Australia for the quarterfinals winning by 1 x 0 with a killer free-kick from Renan Candura at the end of the match. In the semifinals we won 1 x 0 against Afghanistan, who defeated our other squad that represented Colombia, the winning goal was scored by Sergio Rojas. The Grand Final was another really tough match against Sierra Leone and we won by 1 x 0 after a brilliant header by Sergio Rojas.
